Jose Ravelo, NYC´s Urbanscape Photographer

Jose Ravelo, photographer living in NYC who I define as optimism. So your shots exude life and energy that a city like NY distilled through the streets. View your photos is transport you to a wonderful city.
The sight of his Urbanscape is colorful, striking and I would describe it as "eighties". This photograph of POP cut, full of color stands out a tendency to capture the cities as places gloomy, sad.
If the goal of every photographer is to find your own style Jose Ravelo has got, your picture may like or not, but it is personal in style. Ravelo and his particular style I personally love.

The type of photography that is the cityscape practices, how you ended up specializing in this discipline?
It's actually one of my favorite subjects, along with landscapes and architectural photography.
Lets say it is an amalgamation of the things that grew.
My father was what we call "Master Builder" and always looked making plans for its buildings, then I get the love for painting and for this very influenced by my father tended to paint and draw more architecture than anything else.

I have always used the photograph to my paintings, and I was also easier to capture something I liked then printeaba and used it as a stand for what I wanted to capture.

My first camera was a gift from my uncle, unaPentax MV-1 SLR,
which Never use much, ya 'that I started' became interested in digital technology.
I started 'with a little camera Point & shoot Sony, then a Samsung only 5 MP and until in 2009 I bought my first DSLR a Canon T1i which still retain
and creoque I can never 'out of it.

In your shots we see a total absence of complex about correcting perspective distortions and what is the reason you want this resource?
I've always loved architectural photography, and although he never studied architecture, is one of the areas that most appeal to me. as I said I am self-taught in photography and for that reason I had to start learning photography on the fly, by trial & error like gringos say.

My photography I have always intuitively quiado to large skyscrapers and buildings in the city, and therefore ended up photographing always looking, and as you know this creates these distortions especially if we use angular.

You're lucky to live in NYC, does this has influenced the definition of your style?
Completely!

Living so close to the city and visit the facility almost daily for years, is the determining factor in the type of photography I do, the colors, the sounds, the speed in which we live, is what I always try to capture in my photography.
Speaking of NYC how does it feel when one of your photos is projected in Times Square?
The 2012 has the opportunity to be one of the first photographers Dominicans to be chosen for this event called "ART TAKES TIMES SQUARE" organized by Artist Wanted, they recently changed their name to "See me", and this anion, went back to have the honor of being chosen to participate and New.

Unfortunately the event was greatly affected by a storm we had that day in the Metropolitan area, and unfortunately could not attend.
But really that is something inexplicable to see your picture among so many great artists, on display in the most famous area and frequented the city, and at the same time realize that the commitment and effort by the Photographic art, one way or another is rewarded and recognized.

I say this because as you know the do's Photography as a Hobby, it is not my profession and I can not spend all the time I wanted.
One of the projects we participate is MEEK, tell us a little as it is MEEK born.
MEEK FOTOGRU '(also written sounds, and was' on purpose), is a parody of the typical Photography group so popular right now.
born to see that many of the founding members who were part of another group Photographic virtual (mostly composed of photographers Dominicans) decided to create a group where there were not so many rules and requirements of the moderators of the same, and rely rather on coexistence and the good vibe among its members, trying to share and promote creativity and photographic freedom.
Conocimeintos Sharing the most advanced among its members, and those starting out in photography.

The group receintemente fulfilled '4 years of suspended formed and has grown to become one of the largest in the country. (Dominican Republic) on passing the 5000 members (5,300).
Any project confesable? What can we expect from your picture soon?
Something I would like to complete a 365 project.
attempt last year 'and I realize it was' very difficult, due to lack of time.
Besides would soon be able to perform a solo show, because I have not done it yet, but I have participated in several collective.

The other projects are unfortunately not fully developed and
still can not confess.
What advice would you give to those who are entering the world of photography and especially to those who are interested in the urbanscape?
One of the tips that I like to give everyone who starts in the picture is to educate themselves on what they like because as you know, today we can get everything on the internet.

Being self-taught in photography and painting, I've always let me flow I do not really like being influenced. That's what I would recommend to anyone who begins to make those who like and not necessarily what is' fashionable.

If there are two things you can not learn is creativity and talent, therefore Nurture around but do not try to copy so they can develop their own style.

More about José Ravelo HERE

Ademas quisiera pronto poder realizar una exposicion individual , pues todavia no he podido hacerlo , aunque he participado en varias colectivas.

Los demas proyectos lamentablemente no estan completamente desarrollados y
todavia no podemos confesarlos.
